Remove and Install Battery
Removing
-

B - Red Positive Terminal Cover
C - Red Positive Cable
D - Hold Down Bracket
E - Vent Tube
Park machine safely.

Raise hood.
-
Sulfuric acid in battery electrolyte is poisonous.
It is strong enough to burn skin, eat holes in clothing, and cause
blindness if splashed into eyes. Avoid the hazard by:
-
Filling batteries in a well-ventilated area.
-
Wearing eye protection and rubber gloves.
-
Avoiding breathing fumes when electrolyte is added.
-
Avoiding spilling or dripping electrolyte.
-
Use proper jump start procedure.
If you spill acid on yourself:
-
Flush your skin with water.
-
Apply baking soda or lime to help neutralize the acid.
-
Flush your eyes with water for 15—30 minutes. Get medical attention
immediately.
If acid is swallowed:
-
Do not induce vomiting.
-
Drink large amounts of water or milk, but do not exceed 2 L
(2 quarts).
-
Get medical attention immediately.
Disconnect black negative (—) cable (A) from battery terminal
first.
-
Slide red positive terminal cover (B) back and disconnect red
positive (+) cable (C) from battery terminal.
-
Remove hold down bracket (D) and nut from both sides of battery
tray.
-
Pull battery vent tube (E) from battery tray.
-
Remove battery.
Installing:
-
Position battery in machine.
-
Route battery vent tube (E) through hole in battery tray.
-
Install hold down bracket (D) and tighten nut securing battery
to battery tray.
-
Connect positive (+) cable (C) to battery first, then attach
negative (-) cable (A) to battery.
-
Apply spray lubricant on battery terminals to help prevent corrosion.
-
Position red positive battery terminal cover (B) on red positive
(+) cable.
-
Lower hood.
