Start the Engine
Avoid Injury! Engine exhaust fumes contain carbon monoxide
and can cause serious illness or death.

Move the machine to an outside area before running the engine.

If running engine in an enclosed area, make sure that there
is adequate ventilation.

To direct exhaust fumes out of the area, connect a pipe extension
to the engine exhaust pipe.

To clear out the exhaust fumes, allow fresh outside air into
the work area.
If operating machine in temperatures below -18°C (0°F),
installation of the optional engine block heater and hydraulic oil
heater is recommended. If temperature is below 0°C (32°F),
follow the additional cold weather starting aids.

Open the fuel shutoff valve.

Lock the park brake.

A - Transmission Range Lever

Move the transmission range lever (A) to the N position.

Confirm PTO/RIO switch knob (B) is in the disengaged/off position.

Avoid Injury! Check to be sure that area is clear of
any bystanders before lowering implements to the ground.
Lower any implements to the ground.

Set hand throttle lever (C) to the 1/2-3/4 fast position.

Turn ignition key switch to the ON position.

Check indicator lights:

All indicator lights illuminate.
-
All gauges do a full sweep and return to normal.

Avoid Damage! Starter can be damaged if the starter
is operated for more than 20 seconds at a time: Wait two
minutes before trying again if engine does not start.
Turn key switch to START position. Release key when engine starts.

Check indicator lights:

Engine oil pressure light should go out after 5 seconds of the
engine running. If it does not go out, the engine oil pressure may
be too low. Stop the engine and check for cause.

Alternator/battery charging light should go out after 10 seconds
of the engine running. If it does not go out, set the engine speed
at full throttle.

Set hand throttle lever to the 1/2 fast position for 1 minute
without load.
