Preparing Backhoe for Attachment (4300-4700 Tractors)

causym CAUTION: KEEP PEOPLE AWAY FROM TRACTOR WHILE ATTACHING BACKHOE. RUN ENGINE JUST ABOVE SLOW IDLE TO KEEP TRACTOR MOVEMENTS SLOW AND CONTROLLABLE.

1. Assemble backhoe. (See Assembly-48 Backhoe chapter.)

2. Prepare tractor. (See Preparing Tractor (4300, 4400 Tractors) or Preparing Tractor (4500-4700 Tractors) in Assembly-48 Backhoe chapter.)

3. To aid in easy mounting of backhoe on tractor, position backhoe on ground as shown, leaning away from tractor about 5°, and resting on boom pivot pin and rounded edge of bucket. Top flat edge of bucket should be parallel with ground.

4. Check to be sure boom lock pin (A) and swing lock pin (B) are installed.

5. Check that backhoe hydraulic hoses are clear of attaching hooks and hardware. Remove L-pins (C), if installed.
