Operating Tractor

Operate tractor engine at the proper speed to reduce hydraulic system heat buildup in hot conditions.

  • Operate engine at the following maximum speeds when using backhoe in hot conditions:

Specification

4200-4700 Tractors (Gear Driven) -Speed 2400 rpm max.
4200-4700 Tractors (Hydrostatic) -Speed 2700 rpm max.
5105, 5205 Tractors -Speed 2200 rpm max.
5200-5500 and 5210-5210 Tractors -Speed 2400 rpm max.

Faster engine speeds result in faster backhoe movement. When operating where precise movements of the backhoe are required, throttle back on engine speed. This will slow down the speed of the backhoe movement.

Digging forces and breakout forces are the same at any digging rpm. The forces are a function of hydraulic pressure only.
