Installing Stabilizers and Stabilizer Cylinders

1. Remove cotter pins (A) from one end of pivot pin (B) and cylinder pin (C) on stabilizer. Remove pins from both stabilizers.

2. Remove cotter pin (D) from cylinder pivot pin (E) on inside of backhoe weldment. Remove wire ties holding rod end of cylinder to backhoe.

3. Move stabilizer cylinder to inside of backhoe weldment between bushings. Route hydraulic hoses above pivot pin bushings. Route hydraulic hoses above pivot pin bushings. Lubricate and install pivot pin (F) and secure with cotter pin. Temporarily secure rod end of cylinder up out of the way until step 5.

4. Install stabilizer (G) into backhoe weldment and secure with pivot pin (H) and cotter pin. Lubricate pivot pin before installing.

5. Lift stabilizer until pivot pin (I) can be installed through both stabilizer bushing and rod end of cylinder. Lubricate and install pivot pin, and secure with cotter pin.

6. Repeat above steps for stabilizer on other side of backhoe.

7. Lubricate pivot points and grease fittings before operating backhoe. (See Lubricating Boom and Stabilizers in Service chapter.)
