Changing Engine Oil and Filter

IMPORTANT: Change the oil more often if the vehicle is used in extreme conditions:

  • Extremely dusty conditions.
  • Frequent slow or low-speed operation.
  • Frequent short trips.

  1. Run engine to warm the oil.

  2. Park the machine safely. (See Parking Safely in the SAFETY section.)

  3. Tip seats forward.

  4. Raise and secure cargo box.

  5. Remove engine access panel.

  6. Place drain pan under engine drain valve.

    Remove drain plug (A) at front of engine and drain oil into oil drain pan. Allow oil to drain completely.

    Remove oil filter (If equipped):

    • Remove oil filter (B). Turn filter counterclockwise to remove.
    • Clean oil filter base with a damp, dry rag. Apply a film of clean engine oil on gasket of new filter.
    • Install filter. Turn filter clockwise until gasket makes contact with mounting surface. Tighten 1/2 to 3/4 turn after gasket contact.



  9. Install and tighten drain plug. Tighten to specification.

  10. Remove dipstick.

  11. IMPORTANT: Do not overfill crankcase with oil. Oil capacities given are with engine and crankcase completely dry. Some oil will remain in engine after draining.

    Add oil no higher than upper mark on dipstick.

  12. Install dipstick.

  13. Start and run engine at idle to check for leaks. Stop engine. Fix any leaks before operating.

  14. Check oil level, add oil if necessary.

  15. Install engine access panel.

  16. Lower the cargo box.

  17. Tip seats back.
