Using Traction Assist
Traction assist provides better traction when rear wheels start
to slip. Engaging the traction assist will cause both rear wheels
to turn together at equal speed.
CAUTION: Driving at high speeds with the traction assist engaged
may result in loss of steering control. Do not engage traction assist
or turn with the traction assist engaged while operating machine at
high speeds or on slopes.
Engaging the traction assist:
IMPORTANT: Using the traction assist function improperly can
damage the transaxle:
-
Reduce speed and allow drive wheels to rotate at same speed
before engaging or disengaging traction assist.
-
Disengage traction assist when driving on dry asphalt or concrete.
-
Use traction assist only when necessary for improved ground
engagement.
-
Stop machine or reduce engine speed to low idle.
-
Push traction assist lever forward to locked position:
-
Traction assist will remain engaged as long as lever is forward.
Disengaging the Traction Assist
NOTE: The load, or torque, on all wheels must be reduced and
equal before the traction assist will disengage completely. Drive
slowly on a level surface to disengage the traction assist.
-
Stop machine or reduce engine speed to low idle.
-
Pull lever rearward to unlocked position.
-
Drive the machine straight ahead at a constant speed.
