Cleaning Engine Compartment and Fins

  1. Park the machine safely. (See Parking Safely in the SAFETY section.)

  2. IMPORTANT: Do not spray water on a hot engine or transaxle. Damage may occur to cast aluminum parts. Allow engine to cool before servicing.

    Let engine cool.

  3. Tip seats forward.

  4. Raise and secure cargo box.

  5. Disconnect spark plug wire.

  6. Remove engine access panel.

  7. Remove any debris in engine compartment.

  8. Check and remove any obstructions to the brake linkage attached to output shafts on both sides of transaxle.

    Remove four cap screws from debris screen (A).



  10. CAUTION: Compressed air can cause debris to fly a long distance.

    • Clear work area of bystanders.
    • Wear eye protection when using compressed air for cleaning purposes.
    • Reduce compressed air pressure to 210 kPa (30 psi).

    Use a brush or compressed air to clean fins on flywheel and engine block.

  11. Install debris screen.

  12. Connect spark plug wire.

  13. Install engine access panel.

  14. Lower the cargo box.

  15. Tip seats back.
