Checking Brakes and Brake Cables

1. Park the machine safely. (See Parking Safely in the SAFETY section.)

   Underneath machine.

   Lift cargo box to view.

   Check brake cables (A) and (B).
   • If the cables are damaged or worn, see your John Deere dealer.

3. CAUTION: Always check area around machine for bystanders and obstacles before operating the machine.

   Test the brakes.

   1. Move the machine to a level, dry surface that is in a wide open area away from any bystanders and obstacles.

   2. Accelerate the machine to full speed.

   3. Apply the brakes fully and quickly.

   4. Check that the machine comes to a complete stop in less than 20 feet.

   If the machine takes more than 20 feet to stop, or if you feel the brakes are not working properly, see your John Deere dealer.
