Using Four Wheel Drive and Front Lock
Four Wheel Drive (4WD)
This machine has an electric shift four wheel drive (4WD) system
that allows the powertrain to drive the front wheels in addition to
the rear wheels for improved traction on difficult ground conditions.
CAUTION: 4WD greatly increases traction and may make dangerously
sloped terrain accessible, increasing possibility of a tip-over. Use extra caution when driving on slopes. Use 4WD when driving
on slopes to increase traction.
Use 4WD when driving on icy, wet or graveled surfaces; reduce
speed to avoid skidding and loss of steering control.
IMPORTANT: Do not engage 4WD when the rear wheels are slipping,
internal gears can be damaged. Machine should be stopped or traveling
at a steady speed, in a straight line, to engage 4WD.
Tips for Operating 4WD
CAUTION: Front implements may cause decreased traction at the
rear wheels resulting in loss of control. Always operate machine with
4WD engaged when front implements are attached.
-
Maintain recommended front and rear tire pressures to ensure
optimum performance on all surface conditions.
-
Disengage 4WD when driving machine on paved or hard packed surfaces
to increase front tire life and reduce drive train wear.
Front Lock
Front Lock provides better traction when front wheels start
to slip. Engaging Front Lock will cause both front wheels to turn
together at equal speed.
CAUTION: Driving at high speeds with the traction assist engaged
may result in loss of steering control. Do not engage traction assist
or turn with the traction assist engaged while operating machine at
high speeds or on slopes.
Engaging or Disengaging Front Lock and Four Wheel
Drive

B - Four Wheel Drive
C - Four Wheel Drive Plus Front Lock
NOTE: The machine will not engage a different drive position
from the one it is operating in until it is traveling at a speed of
less than 8 MPH (12.9 KM/H) or the machine has stopped.
IMPORTANT: Incorrectly engaging Front Lock may damage the transmission. Reduce speed before engaging or disengaging Front Lock.
-
Stop the machine or reduce travel speed to 8 MPH (12.9 KM/H)
or less.
-
Move the 2WD/4WD selector knob to the desired operating position.
-
Turn the knob when moving between 2WD and 4WD positions.
-
Push and turn the knob when moving between 4WD and 4WD + Front
Lock positions.
Front Lock will remain engaged as long as the selector is in
4WD + Front Lock position.
