IMPORTANT: Check oil level when transaxle is cold.
NOTE: On models with Full-Time four-wheel drive (HFWD) front
axle, make sure that machine is parked on level ground for an accurate
reading. Hydraulic fluid is to be checked and added (if necessary)
at the transaxle dipstick like other models. Fluid is shared between
the HFWD axle and transaxle.
Park machine safely. (See Parking Safely in the SAFETY Section.)

Slide seat fully forward.

IMPORTANT: Contamination of oil could cause transmission damage
or failure. Clean area around dipstick before removing.

Remove dipstick (A) and wipe it with a clean rag.

Install dipstick until it rests on top of the fill tube. Do
not tighten the dipstick.

IMPORTANT: Do not overfill. Too much oil can cause oil leaks.
Remove dipstick.

Check oil level on dipstick. Oil level is to be between crosshatch
marks on dipstick.

If oil is low, add John Deere Low Viscosity Hy-Gard (J20D) transmission
oil through dipstick fill opening to the proper level.

Install and tighten the dipstick.

Start and run engine a few minutes.

Stop engine and check oil level. Add oil as needed.

Return seat to operating position.
