Installing Mower Deck (48C)

1. Park machine safely. (See Parking Safely in the SAFETY section.)

2. Allow engine and muffler to cool completely.

3. CAUTION: Rotating blades are dangerous. Before adjusting or servicing mower:

   • Disconnect spark plug wire(s) or battery negative (-) cable to prevent engine from starting accidently.

   • Always wear gloves when handling mower blades or working near blades.

   Raise mower lift lever fully upward into transport lock position.

4. Slide mower deck under machine.

   Lower mower lift lever, and install pin and spring clip (A) onto each side of rear mower bracket.

   Install front draft rod (B) onto mower deck bracket (C) and onto draft bracket (D). Secure each stud end (E) with locking clip (F).

   Install belt onto engine sheave (G).

8. CAUTION: Component is spring-assisted and under tension. Injury can occur if spring-assisted component is released suddenly.

   Install 3/8-inch ratchet onto square hole (H) in tension arm and rotate clockwise to release tension on belt, while installing mower belt onto center spindle sheave (I). Make sure belt is properly seated on all sheaves.

   Install shield (J) under engine sheave with original hardware (K).

    Install left center shield (L) on deck with original hardware (M).

11. Install right center shield (N) on deck with original hardware (O).

12. Install foot plate.
