Replacing Fuel Filter
CAUTION: Fuel vapors are explosive and flammable:

Do not smoke while handling fuel.

Keep fuel away from flames or sparks.
-
Shut off engine before servicing.
-
Cool engine before servicing.
-
Work in a well-ventilated area.
-
Clean up spilled fuel immediately.
Relieve Fuel Line Pressure

Park the vehicle safely. (See Parking Safely in the SAFETY section.)

Raise bucket seat, or remove bench seat base.

Start and run engine.

Disconnect wiring connector (A) for fuel pump and run until
engine quits.
Remove Old Filter

Raise and secure cargo box.

CAUTION: Cover connections with a cloth while disconnecting
fuel line to avoid fuel spray from residual pressure in system.
IMPORTANT: Do not pry the plastic clip out from the fuel line
quick connect end. Push the closed end of the plastic clip in toward
the fuel line. This spreads out the barbs on the clip and the line
can be disconnected.

Locate the fuel filter (B) at the right front of the engine
compartment.

Place a drain pan or cloth under fuel lines to catch any fuel
left in lines.

Press on release mechanism to disconnect fuel line couplers
(C) from filter.

Remove push fasteners on top (D) and bottom holding fuel filter
to frame.
Install New Filter
IMPORTANT: Incorrect installation of fuel filter may cause engine
damage. Install the filter with the arrow pointing in the direction
of fuel flow (towards the engine) for proper operation.

Install new filter making sure filter arrow (E) is pointed in
the direction of fuel flow (towards the engine). Secure filter with
push fasteners onto frame.

Connect fuel line couplers to new filter, making sure couplers
are securely connected.

Connect wiring connector for fuel pump.
-
Turn ignition key to the RUN position for several seconds, and
turn key off. Check for leaks.

Return or install seat.
-
Lower the cargo box.
