Park the vehicle safely. (See Parking Safely in the SAFETY section.)

Disconnect negative (-) battery cable.

Raise and secure cargo box.

Loosen two lower nuts (A).

Remove drive shaft bolt (B) and slide the coupler (C) of the
transaxle shaft (D).

Remove two bolts (E) on the driveshaft support (F), allowing
clearance for belt cover removal.

Remove upper nut (G) and washer.

Remove bolt (H) and washer, and remove hose hanger (I).

Remove belt cover (J).

Inspect belt (K) for wear or damage. Replace if worn or damaged.
(See “Replace Belt” for procedure.)

Test belt tension at location (L) (half way between alternator
(M) and engine pulley (N)). Deflection should meet specification.

To adjust belt tension, loosen bolt (O) and bolt (P). Rotate
alternator (Q) to obtain specification listed at location (L), and
tighten bolt (P). Tighten bolt (O).

Install belt cover and hose hanger with washer and bolt.

Install upper washer and nut and tighten two lower nuts to secure
belt cover.

Reassemble coupler (C) to transmission output shaft with bolt
(B).

Tighten bolt to specification.
