Replacing Mower Drive Belt (42 Mower)

1. Park machine safely. (See Parking Safely in SAFETY section.)

2. Allow engine and muffler to cool completely.

3. Remove mower deck.

4. Remove drive belt.

   1. Remove two cap screws (A) and belt guide (B).

   2. Rotate tension arm (C) forward and remove spring (D) from tension arm.

   3. Loosen hardware for sheaves (E) to remove belt from guides (F).

   4. Remove mower belt from mower deck.

5. Inspect belt for wear or damage; replace as necessary.

6. Clean top surface of mower deck and sheaves.

7. Install belt on mower deck as shown. Make sure that belt is in groove of each sheave, and on inside guides at sheaves.

8. Install belt guide with cap screws.

9. Tighten sheave hardware to specification.

10. Before installing deck, make sure that tension spring is installed. Rotate tension arm forward and install spring onto bottom square hole in tension arm.

11. Install deck onto machine.
