Installing Detent Plate And Handle

The following installation procedure is for a 54-Inch mower deck. Installation on a 60-Inch mower deck is the same.

  1. Select detent plate and handle for your application.

    • X700, 54HC detent plate is marked F.
    • X700, 60HC detent plate is marked J.

  2. Position the detent plate on the mower deck so that the letter on the detent plate is read correctly, not reversed (plate flipped upside down). Rotate the detent plate (A) counterclockwise until the slot stops on the bolt.

    Remove M8 locknut (D) holding carriage bolt (C) in place.


  3. Position detent plate (A) on pivot (B) and carriage bolt (C) as shown. Install M8 locknut (D) loosely.

    Install handle assembly (E) on pivot (F). Rotate handle counterclockwise so that the detent pin (G) contacts the right (inside) edge of detent plate (H).


  5. Install spring (I) and washer (J) on pivot.

  6. Install and tighten M8 locknut (K) until washer reaches bottom of threads on pivot.
