The following adjustments are for a 54-Inch mower deck.
Adjustment on a 60-Inch mower deck is the same.
Having the deflector gate out of adjustment can negatively
affect cut quality performance.

Ensure that the deflector gate (A) is free to rotate open
and closed.

Make sure that the detent pin (B) is positioned on the right
(inside) of detent plate (C).

Rotate detent plate (C) and handle assembly (D) clockwise until
they stop. Detent pin (B) must be contacting detent plate finger (E).

With detent pin contacting detent plate, deflector gate must
be fully closed (contacting stationary deflector).

Tighten M8 locknut (F) to specification.

Push down on handle assembly (F) and rotate counterclockwise
so that the detent pin (G) is now on the left (outside) of detent
plate as shown.

The deflector gate (H) must be in the full open position as
shown.

To hold the deflector gate open, loosen M8 locknut (I). Slide
detent pin (G) towards pivot (J) until it contacts detent plate.
The pivot pin should end up in the middle portion of the
slot on the handle.

Tighten M8 locknut (I) to specification.

Check that the gate is held closed tightly and there is no movement
(play) in the handle. If movement is present, repeat steps 1-5.

Check that the gate is held all the way open and there is no
movement (play) in the handle. If movement is present, repeat steps
6-9.
