Adjust Chain Tension


52 Broom

    Early Models: Measure length of compression spring (A) on idler tension screw. Spring length must be between 40—50 mm (1.6—2.0 in.) to maintain proper tension. Loosen or tighten nut (B) as needed.

    Later Models: Compression spring should be at end of indicator (A) to maintain proper tension. Loosen or tighten nut (B) as needed.




60 Broom

  1. Park machine safely. (See Parking Safely in the Safety section.)

  2. Lower brush head until bristles are approximately 76 mm (3 in.) off the ground

  3. Support brush head in raised position with wood blocks or a safe lifting device.

    Disconnect front driveshaft from machine:

    1. Pull back coupler (A).

    2. Pull broom driveshaft off of front hitch PTO stubshaft (B).

    Loosen jam nut (A).



  6. Avoid injury! Brush bristles can be sharp. Wear heavy gloves when handling the brush head.

    Avoid damage! Help avoid damage to the broom drive mechanism. Tighten adjustment bolt by hand only. Using a wrench can result in overtightening and subsequent damage to the drive chain and other assembly parts.

    While rotating brush manually, turn adjustment bolt (B) clockwise by hand until it will not tighten any more.

  7. Tighten jam nut.
