Lubricate Broom Drive System

Lubricate Gearbox 52 Broom

1. Park machine safely (See Parking Safely in the SAFETY section).

2.

   Remove three bolts (A) and gearbox shield.

3. Avoid damage! Prevent dirt and other contaminants from entering the gearbox. Clean area around gearbox check plug before removing.

   Clean area around check plug (A). Remove plug.

4. Verify that oil is level with plug hole.

5. Clean area around and remove fill plug (B) to add recommended oil if needed.

6. Install plugs.

7. Install shield with bolts.

Lubricate Drive Chain: 52 Broom

1. Park machine safely (See Parking Safely in the SAFETY section).

2. Raise brush head until bristles are approximately 76 mm (3 in.) off the ground.

   Locate drive chain between retainer plates (A).

4. Lubricate drive chain with clean engine oil.

Lubricate Gearbox 60Broom

1. Park machine safely (See Parking Safely in the SAFETY section).

2. Lower brush head to ground.

3. Avoid damage! Prevent dirt and other contaminants for entering the gearbox. Clean area around gearbox check plug before removing.

   Remove vent plug (A).

4. Insert a bent piece of wire into vent plug hole. Remove wire and check oil level on wire. Oil level should be 45—52 mm (1.8—2 in.) below top of vent plug hole

5. Add John Deere GL-5 80W-90 gear oil to proper level if necessary.

6. Install vent plug.

Lubricate Drive Chain: 60 Broom

1. Park machine safely (See Parking Safely in the SAFETY section).

2. Raise brush head until bristles are approximately 76 mm (3 in.) off the ground.

3. Avoid damage! Help prevent dirt and other contaminants from entering the drive chain area. Clean area around chain guard before removing.

   A - Screw

   B - Chain Guard

   Remove six screws (A) and chain guard (B) from right side of broom.

4.

   A - Drive Chain

   Lubricate drive chain (A) with clean engine oil.

5. Install chain guard and secure with original screws.
