Replacing Brush Sections 52 Broom

Remove Old Brush Sections

1. Avoid damage! Replace brush sections when worn to 23 cm (9 in.) in diameter.

   Park machine safely (See Parking Safely in the SAFETY section).

   Remove all screws in main shield (A). Remove main shield with gearbox shield (B).

   Block broom or support broom with a suitable lifting device at area just behind parking stands (A).

   Remove screws and locknuts (A) in chain guard. Remove chain guard.

5. Remove nut (B), washer (C), and spring (D) from idler tension screw.

   Locate and remove master link retaining clip (A) on drive chain. Remove master link and chain.

   Support core (A) near both ends with suitable lifting device.

   Remove two screws (A) and nuts attaching parking stand to broom. Remove brackets (B) and spacer (C) on both sides of broom. Remove core with brush sections from broom.

   Remove locknut (A) and shear bolt (B). Remove core pin (C), flange bearing (D), core retainer (E), thrust bearing (F), tube (G), and three screws (H). Remove retainer plate (I).

10. Avoid injury! Brush bristles can be sharp. Wear heavy gloves when handling the brush head.

    Remove brush sections from core.

Install New Brush Sections

1. Replace brush sections as needed in correct installation sequence

   Twelve brush sections are installed on both sides of core. Note brush section installation sequence for each side:

   1. Slide first brush section onto core against inside retainer plate (A) as shown.

   2. Slide eleven additional brush sections onto core in an alternating pattern.

   Install retainer plate (A) on core with three screws (B).

4. Install tube (C), thrust bearing (D), core retainer (E), flange bearing (F), core pin (G), shear bolt (H), and locknut (I).

5.

   Install core onto broom. Install screws (A) to bracket (B), spacer (C), and core retainer with nuts.

6. Repeat for other side.

   Install and connect drive chain with master link and retaining clip (A).

9. Install spring (B) onto idler tension screw with washer (C) and nut (D).
