Replacing Brush Sections 60 Broom
Remove Brush Core

Avoid damage! Replace brush sections when bristles
wear down to 36 cm (14 in.).
Replacement of brush sections is easiest with the brush
head mounted on the tractor. Replacement of all brush sections is
recommended to ensure even wear.
Park machine safely (See Parking Safely in the Safety section.)

Lower broom to 76 mm (3 in.) off the ground.

Support brush head in raised position with wood blocks or a
safe lifting device.

Remove six screws (A) and chain guard (B) from right side
of broom.

Locate master link retaining clip (A) on drive chain.

Remove master link to disconnect chain. Remove chain from
large sprocket (A).

Loosen two set screws (A) on each bearing lock collar at
ends of brush core.

Remove snap ring (A) at large sprocket.

Remove set screws (B). Install one of the removed set screws
into threaded hole (C).

Turn set screw at hole (A) clockwise until locking hub (B),
sprocket (C), square key (D), and set screw (E) can be removed from
brush core.

Remove hex nuts (A), lock washers (B), and carriage bolts
(C) to remove right park stand assembly (D).

Loosen two nuts (A) at left end of brush core.

Slide brush core (A) toward left end of broom housing.

Remove three nuts (B), lock washers (C), and carriage bolts
(D) securing right end of bearing and flanges in position.

Avoid injury! Brush bristles can be sharp. Wear heavy
gloves when handling the brush head.

Pull brush core (A) from broom housing.

Remove two flanges (A) and end bearing (B) from right end
of brush core.
Replace Brush Sections

Remove three cap screws (A) and retainer plate (B) from left
end of brush core.

Remove brush sections from brush core.

Position brush core right end plate on wooden blocks.

Number tubes on brush core 1, 2, and 3 as shown.

Avoid damage! When using a combination of one-half
polypropylene and one-half steel wire brush sections, place a polypropylene
section first and last on the brush core to prevent damage to the
broom.
Slide first brush section onto core with drive pins (A) offset
upward straddling both sides of tube 1.

Slide second brush section onto core with drive pins (A)
offset downward straddling both sides of tube 2.

Slide third brush section onto core with drive pins (A) offset
downward straddling both sides of tube 3.

Slide fourth brush section onto core with drive pins (A)
offset upward straddling both sides of tube 1.

Continue installing brush sections as shown until core is
full. Make sure to alternate the tubes used and direction of drive
pins (A)

Install retainer plate (A) on left end of brush core with
three cap screws (B).
Install Brush Core

Position brush core in font of broom housing.

Make sure that bearing collar faces inside.

Install left end of brush core into broom housing by inserting
brush core into bearing collar. Do not tighten set screws (A) or nuts
(B) at this time.

Install two flanges (A) and end bearing (B) onto right end
of brush core.

Make sure end of bearing (A) and flanges (B) go between
inside broom hosing and brush core.

Install right end of brush core into broom housing:

Slide brush core toward left end of broom frame.

Align holes in broom housing with holes in flanges.
-
Install three carriage bolts (C) from the outside, lock washers
(D), and nuts (E) to secure right end bearing and flanges in position.

Install right parking stand assembly (A) to brush head housing
with two carriage bolts (B), lock washers (C), and nuts (D). Tighten
nuts.

Tighten two set screws (A) on each bearing lock collar at ends
of brush core.

Install chain drive sprocket:

Install washer (A) onto brush core shaft (B).

Install sprocket (A), locking hub (B), and square key (C).

Install two set screws into threaded holes (A). Tighten set
screws.

Install snap ring (A).

Install drive chain (A) to large sprocket (B):

Route chain on top of idler (C) and around large sprocket.

Install chain master link.
-
Install master link retainer clip (D).
-
Lubricate drive chain with clean engine oil˙.
