Cleaning Primary Drive Clutch

IMPORTANT: Never lubricate any part of the primary drive clutch.

  1. Park the vehicle safely. (See Parking Safely in the SAFETY section.)

  2. Raise and secure cargo box.

  3. Remove retaining ring (A) and remove top cover (B), along with rubber seal (C) from air intake hose (D).

  4. Under left side of vehicle, loosen hose clamps (E) and pull air intake hose (D) off of outer clutch cover.

  5. Clean screen (F) on top of air intake hose (D).

  6. Remove plug (G) from outer clutch cover.

  7. Through access hole (H), use compressed air to blow dust and debris out of clutch fan area, allowing any dirt and debris to fall through bottom hole (I).

  8. Install clutch cover plug.

  9. Install hose back onto outer clutch cover with clamps.

    IMPORTANT: Be certain that rubber seal is installed so it covers hole in bottom of top cover.

    NOTE: Check to be sure that the top cover (B) is assembled to the lowest position on DUCT.

  10. Install top cover and secure with retaining ring.

  11. Lower the cargo box.
