Bleeding Fuel System

causym CAUTION: Escaping fluid under pressure can penetrate the skin, causing serious injury. Avoid the hazard by relieving pressure before disconnecting hydraulic or other lines. Tighten all connections before applying pressure. Search for leaks with a piece of cardboard. Protect hands and body from high pressure fluids.

If an accident occurs, see a doctor immediately. Any fluid injected into the skin must be surgically removed within a few hours or gangrene may result. Doctors unfamiliar with this type of injury should reference a knowledgeable medical source. Such information is available from Deere & Company Medical Department in Moline, Illinois, U.S.A.

Whenever fuel system has been opened for service (lines disconnected or filter replaced), it will be necessary to bleed air from the system.

1. Check that fuel tank has adequate fuel supply.

2. Open fuel shut-off valve (A).

3. Place a catch pan under bleed port and open fuel filter bleed plug (A).

4. Observe fuel flow. When no air bubbles are detected in fuel flow, close bleed plug.

5. Start engine.

If engine will not start, repeat Steps 3 and 4.

If engine does not start after repeated fuel system bleeding, see TROUBLESHOOTING section of this manual or your John Deere dealer.
