Attaching Boom

1. Move lift cylinder lockup (A) to storage position.

2. Start engine and lower lift arms using raise/lower switch (A). Shut off engine.

NOTE: Gap between frame members may need to be widened for clearance over lift arms. Loosen top and bottom hardware and move frame members as needed to obtain necessary clearance. Check that frame members are parallel to each other (same gap top and bottom) and plumb (straight up and down). Tighten hardware.

3. Install 5/8 x 2-3/4 in. cap screws (A), spacers, lock washers and nuts in both left-hand and right-hand frame members. Be sure to use corresponding holes in frame members so frame is level when attached to lift arms.

causym CAUTION: Rear folding boom is heavy. Use proper lifting equipment which is large enough to raise boom safely.

4. Position center frame on lift arms. Retain frame with locking pins (B).

5. Install 0.641 ID x 0.875 OD x 0.68 in. long spacers in stabilizer arm holes and attach to inside of frame channels using 5/8 x 3-1/2 in. cap screws (C) and 0.090 x 0.656 x 1.312 in. flat washers, with 0.641 ID x 0.875 OD x 1.24 in. long spacers (D) between channels with lock washers and nuts to the outside.

6. Route hydraulic hoses through hose holders on lift arms. Retain hoses with tie straps (A).

causym CAUTION: Escaping fluid under pressure can penetrate the skin causing serious injury. Avoid the hazard by relieving pressure before disconnecting hydraulic or other lines. Tighten all connections before applying pressure. Search for leaks with a piece of cardboard. Protect hands and body from high pressure fluids.

If an accident occurs, see a doctor immediately. Any fluid injected into the skin must be surgically removed within a few hours or gangrene may result. Doctors unfamiliar with this type of injury should reference a knowledgeable medical source. Such information is available from Deere & Company Medical Department in Moline, Illinois, U.S.A.

Hydraulic hoses can fail due to physical damage, kinks, age and exposure. Check hoses regularly. Replace damaged hoses.

NOTE: Refer to Hydraulic Hose Diagram, in this section for hydraulic hose connections.

7. Remove caps and attach hydraulic hoses (A) to fittings in "FOLD" ports.
