Symptom Problem Solution

Linkages binding.

Frozen or worn ball joints on cable.

Lubricate or replace.

Control cable binding.

Replace cable.

Control lever on pump binding.

See your John Deere dealer.

System overheating.

Exceeding relief valve pressure.

Shift to low speed.

Side screens plugged.

Clean screens.

Oil cooler core plugged.

Clean oil cooler.

Low on oil.

Check for leak and correct.

Fan belt slipping or broken.

Replace belt and/or tensioner.

By-pass valve stuck open.

Repair as needed (see your John Deere dealer).

Excessive high pressure leakage.

See your John Deere dealer.

Sprayer will not travel forward or reverse.*

Exceeding relief valve pressure.

Shift to low speed.

Low on oil.

Check for leak and correct. Fill reservoir with oil.

Plugged oil filter.

Change filter element.

Drive belt slipping or broken.

Tighten or replace drive belt.

Air leak in system.

Tighten connections.

Defective U-joint from engine to pump.

Repair as needed.

Drive system inoperative.

Check drive belt, pump, motor and cable or see your John Deere dealer.

* When operating in temperatures below -12°C (10°F), run sprayer for 10-15 minutes to warm up hydrostatic drive oil.

Check for leaks and correct. Fill reservoir.

Plugged oil filter.

Change filter element.

Drive system unable to maintain charge pressure.

See your John Deere dealer.

Sprayer not responding to speed range switch.*

Low on oil.

Check for oil leaks and correct. Refill reservoir.

Plugged oil filter.

Change filter element.

Air in system.

Tighten connections, hose clamps, and check for broken hydraulic lines.

Defective speed range solenoid or switch.

Check and repair as needed.

Drive system unable to build up pressure.

See your John Deere dealer.

Lack of power or loss of power.*

Low on oil.

Check for leaks and correct.

Plugged oil filter.

Change filter element.

Leaking or broken oil line or connection.

Check and repair as necessary.

Drive system unable to maintain or build up pressure.

See your John Deere dealer.

Excessive high pressure leakage.

See your John Deere dealer.

* When operating in temperatures below -12°C (10°F), run sprayer for 10-15 minutes to warm up hydrostatic drive oil.

Sprayer will not start in neutral or will start when hydro lever is in any operational position.

Safety switches out of adjustment, faulty wiring or inoperative switch.

Check wiring connections or see your John Deere dealer.

Planetary hubs disengaged.

Engage planetary hubs.

Hydrostatic system out of oil.

Check oil level.

Hoses incorrectly connected.

Correctly connect hoses. See your John Deere dealer.

Damaged or faulty wheel motors.
