NOTE:
(For warm weather climates) If antifreeze has not and will not be added in engine, be sure to remove plug (A) to drain engine oil cooler. Add clean soft water with John Deere Summer Engine Coolant Conditioner in place of antifreeze mix.
5.
Fill cooling system with antifreeze, to proper level. Use antifreeze that does not contain stop-leak additives.
6.
Operate engine at slow idle for a few minutes to circulate coolant and crankcase oil.
7.
Drain the fuel tank and add 38L (10 gal) of proper grade diesel fuel. Add 420 mL (14 oz) of corrosion inhibitor to fuel.
8.
Operate engine at fast idle for 5-10 minutes to draw fuel/corrosion inhibitor mix through lines and pump. Shut-off engine and allow it to cool.
9.
Add 300 mL (10 oz) of corrosion inhibitor to crankcase oil.
10.
Remove pipe to intake manifold and pour 15 mL (0.5 oz) of corrosion inhibitor into engine. Replace pipe.
11.
Remove wire from injection pump to prevent engine from starting. Turn engine over a couple of times to circulate corrosion inhibitor.
12.
Disconnect battery cables (ground cable first) and remove battery. Store battery in a cool dry place. Charge battery every 30 days if necessary.
13.
Loosen belts.
14.
Remove side screens. Use pressurized water, steam or air to clean dirt and debris from radiator, oil cooler and air conditioning condenser.
15.
Seal the following openings with tape and/or plastic bags to prevent loss of corrosion inhibitor vapors:
-
Exhaust pipe
-
Air cleaner intake
-
Engine dipstick
-
Engine oil fill tube
-
Crankcase breather tube
