Installing and Bleeding Hydraulic Cylinders
CAUTION:
Escaping fluid under pressure can penetrate the skin causing serious injury. Avoid the hazard by relieving pressure before disconnecting hydraulic or other lines. Tighten all connections before applying pressure. Search for leaks with a piece of cardboard. Protect hands and body from high pressure fluids.
If an accident occurs, see a doctor immediately. Any fluid injected into the skin must be surgically removed within a few hours or gangrene may result. Doctors unfamiliar with this type of injury may call the Deere & Company Medical Department in Moline, Illinois, or other knowledgeable medical source.
1.
Pull hoses and cylinder through frame with wire attached to hoses during removal of cylinder.
2.
Attach cylinder base end(s) to mainframe with snap ring spacer and pin, leaving rod end(s) detached.
3.
Attach all hoses in the hydraulic circuit.
CAUTION:
If cylinders are not bled, wings could drop unexpectedly, causing serious injury or death to others.
4.
Connect hoses to tractor. Fully extend and retract all cylinders at least two times, maintaining hydraulic pressure at full extension for at least 30 seconds. Then extend cylinders one more time, maintaining pressure at full extension for one minute. This allows all air to escape from cylinders.
