Adjusting Cushion Coulters

causym CAUTION: Coulter blades are heavy and sharp. Loosening pivot bolt can cause the blade to drop and can cause serious injury or death to you or others. Prevent injury by keeping away from under coulter blade when loosening pivot bolt.

Set coulter depth to approximate specifications to cut trash in ordinary conditions.

Specification

Cushion Coulters -Approximate Depth 76 mm (3 in.)
If set too deep the coulter pushes the trash instead of cutting it.

Adjust depth by loosening cap screw (A). Put arm in desired position. Tighten cap screw to specification.

Specification

Cushion Coulters Cap Screws -Torque 135 N·m (100 lb-ft)

NOTE: Set the coulter deep enough when plowing sod to cut the roots below the surface. It may be necessary to raise the coulter for hard ground conditions.

The distance of deflection (B) and the amount of down force is adjusted by the rear nut (C). A specified spring length is set at the factory.

Specification

Cushion Coulters -Spring Length 240 mm (9-0.5 in.)
A shorter spring length will decrease the deflection and increase the down force. A longer spring length will increase the deflection and decrease the down force.
