Shear Bolt Standards

A 5/8 x 3-1/2 in. Grade D shear bolt (A) is used on each standard to protect the standards from damage when an obstruction is hit.

causym CAUTION: To avoid injury, do not try to remove a broken bolt if the standard is in raised position. Carefully reset the standard to vertical (normal) position before replacing a shear bolt.

IMPORTANT: After shear bolts (A) have been replaced and tightened to specification, tighten standard cap screws (B) to specification.

Shear Bolt -Torque 215 N·m (160 lb-ft)

Specification

Standard Cap Screw -Torque  375 N·m (277 lb-ft)

NOTE: Keep enough shear bolts on hand to prevent loss of time.
