Installing and Bleeding Wing-Fold Cylinders
CAUTION:
Escaping fluid under pressure can penetrate skin causing serious injury. Avoid hazard by relieving pressure before disconnecting hydraulic or other lines. Tighten all connections before applying pressure. Search for leaks with a piece of cardboard. Protect hands and body from high-pressure fluids.
If an accident occurs, see a doctor immediately. Any fluid injected in skin must be surgically removed within a few hours or gangrene may result. Doctors unfamiliar with this type of injury should reference a knowledgeable medical source. Such information is available from Deere & Company Medical Department in Moline, Illinois, U.S.A.
1.
Attach cylinder base end(s) to linkage, but leave rod end(s) detached.
2.
Attach all hoses in hydraulic circuit.
3.
Support cylinder(s) on wooden blocks so rod(s) can extend and retract without interference.
4.
Connect hoses to tractor. Fully extend and retract all cylinders at least two times, maintaining hydraulic pressure at full extension for at least 30 seconds. Then, extend cylinders one more time, maintaining pressure at full extension for one minute. This allows all air to escape from cylinders.
CAUTION:
If cylinders are not bled as described above, wings could drop unexpectedly, causing serious injury or death.
5.
Attach cylinder rod end(s) to wings.
CAUTION:
To avoid serious injury or death, stand clear of machine when wings are being folded or unfolded. Mechanical or hydraulic failure can allow wings to fall rapidly.
