With cotton stripper operating in rows, engine running at full speed, cleaner control switch engaged, and cleaner bypass lever (A) in forward position, cotton flows through cleaner as follows:

Cotton drops from duct (N) onto the cleaner feeder (B) which feeds cotton to upper saw drum (D). A feeder control bar (C) also helps feed cotton onto upper saw drum.

Saw teeth, on upper saw drum, catch cotton and help pull it under a series of adjustable grid bars (E). Grid bars and brushes (G and H) send trash and some cotton to lower saw drum (F) (reclaim saw drum) and lower grid bars (I).

Trash is then carried out side trash chute by auger (J).

A doffer (L) and brushes (M) sends cleaned cotton from doffer and up duct (O) to basket (P) by an air stream generated by cleaner fan (K).
