Operating in the Field

causym CAUTION: Be sure no one is standing near machine when starting. Should machine suddenly move or should an object be thrown because of moving parts, serious injury or death could result to bystanders.

1. Make sure cleaner bypass lever is in desired position. (See OPERATING CLEANER BYPASS LEVER in this section.)

2. Start engine and operate at slow idle.

3. Engage fan.

NOTE: Fan cannot be engaged if engine speed is faster than 1000 rpm.

If fan switch is placed in OFF position with engine rpm greater than 1000 rpm, yellow CAUTION light will come on and pulsating alarm will sound.

To turn off light and horn, return fan switch to ON position or reduce engine rpm below 1000 rpm.

If fan switch is placed in OFF position with engine rpm below 1000 rpm, allow cotton fan rpm to decrease below 650 rpm before increasing engine rpm over 1000 rpm. This will prevent yellow CAUTION light from coming on and pulsed alarm from sounding.

NOTE: Cleaner cannot be engaged if engine speed is faster than 1000 rpm.

causym CAUTION: Operator presence system will shut off stripping units if operator leaves seat for more than four seconds, but machine's forward travel will continue.

5. Engage stripping units using switch (A).

NOTE: If operator presence system shuts off stripping units, they can be restarted only by operator returning to seat and turning units switch (A) to OFF position, and then back ON.

6. Move transmission lever (B) to desired gear.

11. Increase engine speed to fast throttle position.

12. Unlatch service brakes (A) then release park brake (B).

13. Move hydro lever (C) forward to regulate ground speed.

14. Center stripping units on rows.

15. Raise units to clear irrigation ditches or other obstructions using switch (D).

16. Reduce ground speed if you find it difficult to stay on the rows by slowly pulling back on hydro lever.

17. Reduce ground speed at row ends. Completely raise units and header. Use individual brake pedals to help turn.

NOTE: Vanes are optional equipment. Depress vane control switch (E) to left to move vanes to left. Depress switch to right to move vanes to right.

18. As the basket fills, occasionally operate vane and compactor augers. Use good judgement when basket is almost full. Dump early, not late to prevent plugging of ducts.

19. Use vane compactor for dump control. When basket is 1/2 to 3/4 full, or Basket-Full light comes on, operate compactor augers by pushing auger control switch (F). Cycle vane compactor once.

20. When dumping, move vane to right-hand side to hold cotton. Release rest of load as desired.
