Stalks not entering unit.

Opening between strip rolls too narrow.

Increase spacing.

Row units too low or too high, gatherer not adjusted properly.

Adjust row units and gatherers so gatherer grates just touch ground.

Excessive boll loss.

Gatherers not adjusted properly.

Adjust properly.

Stripper units too high for low cotton bolls.

Adjust row units and gatherers. Run gatherer grates and strip roll skids just touching ground.

Bolls knocked off by gatherers in extremely dry conditions.

Reduce ground speed.

Replace brushes.

Leaves cotton in field.

Gatherers out of adjustment.

Adjust gatherers.

Leaves and leaf stems still green; lint cotton pulled through with leaves. Leaves may be rubbery because of high humidity.

Improve method of defoliation or desiccation. Wait until leaves are dry enough to crumble.

Strip rolls not properly adjusted.

Adjust strip rolls.

Excessive wear on strip roll brushes and flaps.

Adjust strip roll spacing if necessary. Replace parts.

Foreign material stuck in row unit augers.

Remove foreign material.

Cut off bar too far from brush roll.

Adjust cut off bar.

Bent flighting on row unit auger.

Straigten flighting.

Plugging.

Stalks pull out of ground.

Adjust strip rolls and/or combs to reduce aggressiveness.

Uneven growth of plants resulting in variation of stalk diameter.

Adjust strip roll opening.

Excessive number of side branches.

Reduce aggressiveness by opening rolls.

Plugging in cross conveyor auger.

Clean out any obstruction in auger.

Plugging in row unit.

Rocks or roots under row unit auger. Reverse row unit. Remove obstruction.

Breaking stalks.

Adjust strip rolls and/or combs to reduce aggressiveness.

Remove 254 mm (10 in.) brush section and slide 762 mm (30 in.) section to bottom of strip rolls.

Worn slip clutch coupler or shaft rounded.

Replace as necessary.

Check strip roll spacing and gatherer grate spacing. Adjust if necessary.

Plugging cross auger.

Belt tension too low.

Tighten belt to recommended tension.

Lock nut loose.

Replace nut and tighten to specification.

Slip clutch worn.

Replace clutch jaws.

Foreign material in augers.

Remove foreign material.

Vibration

Bent auger.

Straighten or replace auger.

Worn bearing.

Replace bearing.

Bearing hardware loose.

Tighten hardware.

Damaged flighting.

Straighten flighting or replace auger.

Spur gears overheating.

No backlash between gears.

See your John Deere dealer.

Foreign material in back of row unit.

Clean row unit to remove foreign material.

Units will not raise.

EHHC not engaged.

Press lower portion of unit raise/lower button.

Valve not plugged in.

Connect wiring harness to valve.

Sensor not plugged in.

Connect wiring harness to sensor.

Faulty sensor.

Replace sensor.

Foreign material logded in shoes.

Remove foreign material.

Valve stuck.

clean valve cartridge and remove foreign material.

Small screw in valve missing.

Replace screw.
