Preparing Stripper for Storage

1. Clean stripper thoroughly inside and out to prevent rust. To protect engine, use JD No. AR41875 Storage Kit.

2. Paint where necessary.

3. Loosen belts.

4. Wash stripping unit thoroughly inside and outside. Make sure units are thoroughly dry, then spray entire stripping mechanism with a rust preventative oil.

5. Lubricate stripper completely. Grease threads on bolts used for adjustments. Operate stripping units until all parts are thoroughly lubricated. (See Lubrication and Maintenance in this manual.)

6. Support stripping units with blocks.

7. Block stripper to take load off tires. Do not deflate tires. If stored outside, remove wheels and tires and store in a cool, dark, dry place.

8. Drain oil, change filter and refill hydraulic reservoir, hydrostatic reservoir, transmission and final drives. Order AR41870 Internal Corrosion Inhibitor 0.95 L (1 qt). Add following amounts of corrosion inhibitor while refilling:

System Amounts (Fluid)
Hydraulic Reservoir... 75 mL (2-1/2 oz.)
Transmission... 90 mL (3 oz.)
Final Drives... 30 mL (1 oz.)
Hydrostatic Reservoir... 105 mL (3-1/2 oz.)

 

9. Cycle all hydraulic functions to distribute inhibitor.

10. Seal all filler caps and breathers with tape and/or plastic bags to prevent loss of corrosion inhibiting vapors.
