Installing Header Drive Assembly

1. Remove and retain channel with bearing assembly (E) and hardware.

2. Remove and retain lock nut and washer from No. 1 row unit driveshaft (B).

NOTE: On slotted holes install washers on each side of material that is being fastened.

3. Attach drive plate (A) to left-hand side of extension using five M12 x 25 flange head cap screws (D) and nuts and two M12 x 30 flange head cap screws (C), two washers and nuts.

4. Install corner brace using four M10 x 20 round-head bolts (A) and nuts.

5. Attach shield (A) to auger drive plate using M8 x 20 round-head bolts (D), p-clamps and nuts and M10 x 25 flange head cap screws (B) and nuts.

6. 8R-30", 8R-36", 5R-36", and 6R-36" Row Spacings Only ; Install row unit pivot assembly using four M12 x 25 flange head cap screws.

Slide clamps (one at each end of guard) and guard over driveshaft and row unit pivot.

7. Route wire harness (C) as shown and connect to auger speed sensor.

8. Attach hazard light assembly (A) to auger drive plate using two M10 x 25 flange head cap screws (B) and nuts.

9. Install tone wheel (A) and spacer (B).

NOTE: Adjust sensor bracket, as necessary, so that sensor is centered over tone wheel.

10. Loosen jam nuts (B).

11. Turn sensor (A) until it contacts the tone wheel (C).

12. Back sensor off 1-1/2 turns or 2.5 mm (0.1 in.) and tighten jam nuts.

13. Install sheave assembly on shaft using washer (A) and replacement M20 lock nut (B). Tighten to specification.

Lock Nut -Lubricated Torque 237 N·m (175 lb-ft)

14. Align hydraulic motor sheave and auger drive sheave as follows:

  • Measure and record dimension (A).
  • Measure and record dimension (B).
  • If measurements are not equal, add or remove the 3 mm (0.120 in.) shims (C) on hydraulic motor, as necessary
  • If shims are removed, place them on opposite side of hydraulic motor.

15. Loosely attach support bar (A) using two M10 x 25 flange head cap screws (B), washer (C) and flange nuts.

16. Determine parallel alignment of hydraulic motor sheave and auger drive sheave as follows:

  • Align sheaves using straight edge (A). Sheaves must be within specification.

Motor Sheave-to-Auger Sheave -Alignment 1.5 mm (0.060 in.)

  • If necessary, push or pull on plate (A) to achieve parallel alignment. Tighten two M10 x 25 flange head cap screws (B).

    17.

    Slide row unit drive sheave (A) on row unit shaft.

    18.

    Attach channel with bearing assembly (C) using four M12 x 25 flange head cap screws (B).

    IMPORTANT: Shaft shoulder (E) must be inset from bearing face (D).

    19.

    Install or remove shims (F) under bearing flange to adjust sheave alignment.

    20.

    Install washer and previously removed lock nut. Tighten to specification.

Specification

Lock Nut -Lubricated Torque 237 N·m (175 lb-ft)

    21.

    Install header drive belts. (See INSTALLING HEADER DRIVE BELTS in this section.)

    IMPORTANT: The specification for belt deflection is a per strand setting.

    22.

    Tighten nut (B) on pulley adjuster until belts (at midspan) between cross auger sheave and header drive sheave are within specification.

Specification

Header Drive Belt Tension -Force 122 ± 4 N (27.5 ± 1 lb force) applied at center of belt span
Belt -Deflection 8 mm (0.31 in.)

    23.

    Tighten nuts (C) on pulley.

      Install hinge bracket (A) using six M8 x 20 round-head bolts (B) and flange nuts.
