Replacing Engine Accessory Drive Belt-Alternator, Fan and Air Conditioning Compressor

Check Belt Tension Annually

 

NOTE: Fan, air conditioner compressor and alternator share the same belt. Verify belt is in good condition.

Accessory drive belt is equipped with an automatic tensioner which DOES NOT require adjustment.

1. To replace accessory drive belt (A), place a 1/2 in. breaker bar in tensioner as shown and rotate tensioner arm counter-clockwise.

2. Remove belt from drive pulley.

3. Relax breaker bar tension and remove belt from alternator and air conditioning compressor pulleys.

4. Install new belt in reverse order of removal.
