Header Height Control Theory Of Operation

The header height control system is an electro-hydraulic system that maintains each individual row unit at an optimum height for harvesting cotton.

Header height control system calibration procedure should be performed at the beginning of each season, if any of the header height control components inside the cab are replaced, or if machine configuration (number of row units) is changed. (See Header Height Control System Calibration Procedure in this section).

Header height control header calibration procedure must be performed whenever header height control

system calibration is performed or if any header height control component outside the cab is replaced, and it should be performed at the beginning of each season to verify proper operation. (See Header Height Control Header Calibration in this section).

Header height control system is activated when the operator lowers units using the unit raise/lower button on the hydro handle. System is deactivated when the operator raises the units using the raise/lower all units button.

D-Rockshaft Height Control Knob

The height of each row unit may be individually adjusted by rotating corresponding knob (A) on the steering column.

Once height sensing has been activated, row units may be raised and then lowered individually using corresponding button (B) on steering column. EXAMPLE: When row unit is in lowered position, press and release corresponding button to raise unit and then press and release button again to lower unit back to preset height. Pressing the all units lower button will also lower units.

Rate response knob (C) allows the operator to control how fast the row units react (raise/lower) to changing ground conditions while in the height sensing mode of operation. (See Header Height Control Rate Response Adjustment in this section).

Rockshaft height control knob (D) allows the operator to adjust the operating height to which the rockshaft will lower when the header raise/lower button is pressed on the hydro handle. (See Setting Rockshaft Height And Using Down Stop Override in this Section.)
