NOTE: Some sweeps will roll on adapter from one side only. It may be necessary to tap sweep stem on one side to wrap it on adapter.

4. Align sweep (A) with adapter (B) where their curves match. Roll sweep on adapter and push upward by hand (as far as possible) until the sweep engages taper on adapter.

NOTE: The lower flare on adapter is designed to protect against loss in the event the sweep comes loose from its normal operating position when a shank recoils in field operation. It will not prevent sweep loss in transport.

5. Using a large heavy hammer, drive sweep up on adapter an additional 6.4 mm (1/4 in.) hitting at point of sweep (C).
