Battery Charge Gauge (Voltmeter)Charge gauge (voltmeter) (A) shows battery and charging system voltage. With the key switch ON and the engine off, the voltmeter needle should register slightly above the red/black band (12.0 volts). Gauge needle in first red band indicates a discharged battery or low charging system voltage. Check battery condition and alternator belt tension. With the engine running: Needle in center band indicates that charging system voltage is normal (at least 13 volts). Gauge needle in far red band indicates an overcharge condition.
