Checking Moistener Column Height
1.
Frequently check moistener pads for wear. If moistener pads show too much wear, vertical adjustment of the moistener column is required.
IMPORTANT:
Premature wear will result if the moistener pads are too low.
Poor cleaning will result if moistener pads are too high due to lack of sufficient fluid on spindles and lack of scrubbing by moisture pads. The spindles must be cleaned by the moistener pads; NOT the doffers.
2.
Adjust moisture column height so all fins of each moistener pad (A) just touch the spindles (B).
NOTE:
As spindle just begins to pass under the moistener pad, all fins should flex slightly. With new moistener pads, fins near the dust collar may flex more than fins near the spindle tip.
