Unit and Drum Clutch Slippage

causym CAUTION: If you or others become entangled in moving parts of a unit, serious injury or death can result. DO NOT attempt to remove an obstruction from units unless:

  • Units are disengaged.

  • Transmission is in neutral.

  • Ignition is off. Key is removed.

  • Park brake is engaged.

When an obstruction enters the picking unit, the drum clutch will slip causing the monitor indicator light(s) (A) and the flashing STOP light (B) to come on and activate the alarm.

IMPORTANT: Picking unit damage can occur. DO NOT operate units in reverse to remove obstruction. See UNPLUGGING A PICKING UNIT in PICKING UNITS section.

If clutch continues to slip after the obstruction is removed, check for plugging, bent picker bars, or misaligned doffer.

If picker is stopped in the row, operate units and fan until all cotton is doffed from the spindles and the suction doors are clean before starting to pick again.

If row unit lights do not light when plugged, see your John Deere dealer.
