Checking Coolant Level

causym CAUTION: The basket is heavy and if it falls, serious injury or death to you or others can result. NEVER remove radiator filler cap or check coolant by lifting and working under basket.

causym CAUTION: Explosive release of fluids from pressurized cooling system can cause serious burns.

If radiator fill cap must be removed, do not remove when engine is hot. Shut engine off and wait until cap is cool enough to touch with bare hands. Slowly loosen cap to first stop to relieve pressure before removing completely.

Never add coolant when engine is overheated. Wait for it to cool.

1. Loosen wing nut and remove cover (A) at bottom of basket.

2. Keep radiator pressure cap (B) tight and gasket surface in good condition or loss of pressure and coolant will result.

3. Check coolant level in overflow tank when engine is cold.

IMPORTANT: To prevent damage from overheating engine check the overflow hose for kinks and check the coolant level in the radiator through the radiator cap.

4. Keep overflow tank filled to level between the "HOT" (A) and "COLD" (B) marks. Add coolant to the overflow tank until the level appears at the "HOT" mark, if necessary.

5. Remove radiator pressure cap (A) if overflow tank becomes empty. Add coolant to radiator until coolant is level with top of radiator tank. Replace radiator pressure cap and fill overflow tank to HOT mark.
