Preparing Machine for Storage

If machine will not be operated for 30 days or more:

1. Clean machine thoroughly inside and out to prevent rust.

2. Clean spindles.

IMPORTANT: Picking units must be thoroughly lubricated after washing, prior to storage to protect against corrosion.

3. Wash picking units thoroughly, inside and outside. Make sure they are thoroughly dry. Spray entire picking mechanism with a rust-preventive oil.

4. Lubricate machine completely. Grease threads on bolts used for adjustments. Operate picking units until all parts are thoroughly lubricated.

6. Drain and refill hydraulic and hydrostatic reservoir and transmission. Add 180 mL (10 oz) of corrosion inhibitor to reservoir and transmission.

Cycle all functions to distribute inhibitor. Seal all filler caps and breathers with tape and/or plastic bags to seal in corrosion inhibiting vapors.

7. Repaint where necessary.

8. Support picking units with blocks.

9. Block picker to take load off tires. DO NOT store tires in contact with blacktop or other oil stabilized surfaces. DO NOT deflate tires. If picker is stored outside, remove wheels and tires and store them in a cool, dark place.

10. Loosen all belts.

11. Clean oil cooler.

12. Order repair parts for next season.
