Operator Presence System

To enhance the safety of the picker operator, this cotton picker is equipped with a passive operator presence system.

The system will sense the presence of the operator in the seat whenever the picking units are engaged.

Should the operator leave the seat for more than 5 seconds, the operator presence system will immediately stop picker and the picking units. The engine will remain running.

To resume operation, return to the seat and momentarily move the hydro lever (A) to the neutral position.

CAUTION: If the operator presence system fails to function correctly, the machine can stop or move unexpectedly causing serious injury or death to you or others. If the system ever fails to operate exactly as described above, see your John Deere dealer.

An inspection bypass for the operator presence system allows the operator to control slow forward rotation of the picking units from the ground during inspection. The bypass system consists of a hand-held, spring-loaded tether switch. See PREPARING INSPECTION BYPASS SYSTEM in this section.
