In Case Of Fire

causym CAUTION: Avoid possible injury or death from fire or smoke from burning machine or material. Determine extent and intensity of the fire before attempting to put it out. Do not attempt to stamp out the fire, always use a fire extinguisher.

Immediately contact your local fire department.

1. DO NOT PANIC. Stop machine immediately and disengage fan and row units at the first sign of trouble. This may be a scorched smell, an unusual sound, or the sight of smoke or flame.

NOTE: Be familiar with fire extinguisher locations on the machine and follow directions on the extinguisher label before operating them.

2. Check harvester for hot spots, starting with the picking units, then the engine and chassis. Extinguish fire using fire extinguishers. Always spray extinguisher solution at the base of the fire.

3. Quickly raise row units and drive the machine to a clean or harvested area in the field, away from cotton modules, dead grass or other equipment.

4. Verify wind direction. Move machine as necessary so cotton will blow away from machine when unloading the basket.

5. Completely unload all cotton from the basket and move machine a safe distance from unloaded cotton. Shut off engine, engage parking brake.

6. Warn others of the fire hazard and check machine again to verify the fire is completely out.

7. Check cotton dumped in the field for fire or hot spots. Extinguish as necessary. Do not stamp out fire! Only use a fire extinguisher to put out any fire.
