Discarded Tires
It is illegal to burn discarded tires. Tires cannot be used to start piles of trees and buildings on fire. Tires can be used to fill ravines, washes, streams, etc.
Discarded tires can be disposed of in a permitted landfill. These tires must first be processed (shredded or quartered) before taking to landfill. Call your local landfill for requirements.
Discarded tires may also be recycled if a recycling plant is nearby.
Tires may be used for stream bank stabilization. Contact the DNR for guidance.
