Drain And Replace Row Unit Gear Case Oil (If Oil Type Equipped)-Every Year

causym CAUTION: Row units are heavy and if they fall, serious injury or death to you or others can result. Lower units completely to the ground or place safety stops over unit lift cylinder rods before working near units.

1. Remove row unit driveshaft(s) (A).

NOTE: Shims may be installed between gear case and row unit. Note locations during gear case removal.

2. Remove capscrews (B) retaining gear case to row unit.

3. Remove gear case.

4. Carefully clamp gear case level in a vice or to table.

5. Remove drain plug (C) and fill plug to completely drain gear case.

6. Apply thread sealant to threads of drain plug and install.

7. Verify gear case is level and fill to middle of sight glass with recommended lubricant. See ROW UNIT GEAR CASE LUBRICANT-OIL TYPE in this section.

8. Install fill plug.

NOTE: If shims were noted during removal, verify proper placement before installing gear case.

9. Install gear case and driveshaft(s) in reverse order of removal.
