CAUTION:
Make sure everyone and everything is clear of picking units before engaging. If any of the steps described do not give the proper result, DO NOT attempt to adjust them yourself. Failure to adhere to these directives can result in serious injury or death to you or others. See your local John Deere dealer for service.
EIGHT STEP CHECK
Step One
1.
Verify park brake is engaged.
2.
Make sure transmission is in neutral and hydro lever is in neutral.
3.
Sit squarely in seat. Start engine, and operate at slow idle.
4.
Lower units into height sensing position.
5.
Engage picking units.
6.
Move hydro lever forward approximately 1/4 of slot.
7.
Picking units should be operating and remain operating. If not, see your John Deere dealer. DO NOT attempt to adjust them yourself.
Step Two
1.
Raise completely off operator's seat; then sit back down within 2 seconds.
2.
Picking units should continue to operate without indication of stopping.
Step Three
1.
Remain in operator's seat for 10 seconds before proceeding.
2.
Again, raise completely off seat. Wait for a minimum of 6 seconds before sitting back down.

3.
Picking units should stop operating within 5 seconds of raising off seat.
4.
Picking units should NOT resume operation when operator sits back down (until STEP FOUR is completed).
Step Four
1.
While sitting in operator's seat return hydro lever to neutral position.
2.
Again, move hydro lever forward approximately 1/4 of slot.
3.
Picking units should begin operating again.
Step Five
1.
Place hydro lever in inspection by-pass position on console.
2.
Picking units should not be operating.
3.
Tether indicator light should be illuminated on monitor panel. If not, see your John Deere dealer. DO NOT attempt to adjust them yourself.
4.
Place transmission in gear, tether indicator light should turn off.
5.
Move transmission shifter back to neutral. Tether indicator light will turn back on.
Step Six
1.
Depress tether switch.
2.
Picking units should BEGIN operating with drums rotating slowly.
Step Seven
1.
Release tether switch.
2.
Picking units should stop operating.
