1. Engage park brake.

2. Place transmission in neutral.

3. Operate engine at slow idle, and move hydro lever (A) to inspection bypass position.

4. Engage row units (B).

5. Turn on lube switch (C).

causym CAUTION: Be sure park brake is engaged. The unexpected movement of the machine can cause serious injury or death to you or others. If the inspection bypass system does not operate exactly as described below, see your John Deere dealer.

Serious injury or death can result if you or others become entangled or are drawn into moving parts of unit. Keep away from all moving parts to prevent injury or death. Always keep inspection bypass cord away from moving parts on picking units.

6. Remove tether switch (A) from storage position in unit No. 3. Stand clear of units. Never operate the inspection bypass while standing on top of the row units. Keep thumb free of tether switch.

causym CAUTION: If you or others would fall or be pulled into an operating row unit, serious injury or death can result. Keep a safe distance from moving parts on an operating row unit. ALWAYS keep inspection bypass cord away from moving parts on row units.

7. Establish solid footing and clearance from moving parts; then depress tether switch button (A). Slow unit rotation will begin immediately and continue until the switch is released; a chime will also sound indicating grease is flowing.

8. Fresh grease should be present at two of the top six spindles at the dust collars. Verify every bar of every unit is greased properly.

9. Release tether switch button. The chime should go off and the units should stop.

10. Check for fresh grease in upper drive gear area and in cam tracks of all drums.
