Checking Stabilizer Cylinder Valve and Linkage
NOTE:
Before proceeding with the following procedure, verify proper stabilizer cylinder function. See CHECKING STABILIZER CYLINDER FUNCTION in this section.
If cylinder retraction was more than 6 mm (1/4 in.), proceed with steps below to ensure optimum valve and linkage adjustment.
1.
Remove left-hand (second from rear) radiator screen to expose stabilizer valve.
2.
Check to make sure interface of contact lever (A) squarely contacts outer face of basket angle (B).
3.
Pivot arm (C) should just touch the top of valve pin (D).
4.
Start engine, raise basket just enough (approximately 102 mm [4 in.]) to actuate valve linkage.
5.
Shut off engine.
6.
Valve pin should be "bottomed" fully (approximately 5 mm [0.20 in.] (E) of valve pin should be exposed).
If stabilizer valve and linkage does not react as described in steps 1 through 6, see ADJUSTING STABILIZER VALVE AND LINKAGE in this section.
If stabilizer valve and linkage reacts as described in steps 1 through 6, see BLEEDING STABILIZER CYLINDER in this section.
